Ferdinand Porsche, the founder of the company, had already invented the electric wheel-case motor at the age of 24 (1899), and by the time of the International Exhibition in Paris the following year, he had already made a name for itself.
The Porsche automobile had a distinctive character, with its Beetle-like shape, rear-mounted engine and excellent performance, making it a quickly recognizable automobile. 1963 saw the presentation of the Porsche 911 model at the Frankfurt International Automobile Exhibition, a design that still has a wide range of markets. The 911 Carrera 4 with electronically-adjusted four-wheel drive and liftless body were the most important developments of the last few years. Very few brands are able to sell luxury goods like necessities, as Porsche does. In the advertisement for the new car 911 there is this jingle: “In an age of superfluity and superficiality, of frivolity and coarseness, only the Porsche 911 is a true necessity, irreplaceable.
The history of this car dates back to 1900, when the first automobile to bear its name, the Lohner, made its official debut and created a sensation. The two-seater sports car was designed by Ferdinand Porsche (hereinafter referred to as “Big One”), who at the time was only twenty-five years old and was employed as a designer at the Lohner car factory.
